What does an earthquake have to do with this picture of eucalyptus trees, you may wonder. Last night we had a bit of a jolt in the form of a 3.2 magnitude earthquake just before midnight. It felt like the house was bumped by something large. It didn’t last long, but it was a pretty good jolt, nonetheless. My son said his glass of water skid across his desk a few inches. A few minutes later there was a smaller earthquake of about 2.6.
We looked up the location on the USGS Recent Earthquakes site (great site!) and learned that the epicenter was just over a mile from our house, right under Fairmont Ridge. Fairmont Ridge happens to be a favorite haunt of mine for walking and shooting pictures. Now you know the connection.
